emergencies

We all try our best to preserve our teeth for as long as we can.  Sometimes, however, accidents do happen and preserving a tooth means getting to a dentist immediately.  A dental emergency can be many things, from extreme pain and prolonged bleeding to dislodged, cracked, or broken teeth, and your Palm City/Stuart dentist is here to help.
Cracked, broken, and chipped teeth come most commonly from clenching or chewing on hard items like ice, popcorn kernels, hard candy, or nonfood items like pens.  If you break or crack your tooth, place a cold compress to your face minimize swelling and come to our Palm City/Stuart offices immediately, keeping any pieces of your tooth with you in a wet cloth.
Whether it’s partial or complete, a knocked out tooth is a serious problem.  In the event that you get your tooth knocked out, gently place the dislodged tooth back into its socket.  If the tooth has fallen out completely and is dirty, you should rinse the root before putting it back into place, but do not scrub it or remove any tissue from the tooth.
Extreme pain is an indicator that something is wrong.  If you have unbearable pain in your mouth or jaw, you may have an infection in your pulp, a broken or cracked tooth, or another problem which requires immediate attention.  Apply a cold compress to ease your pain and relieve any swelling and come in right away.
No matter what your problem is, the emergency services available at your Palm City/Stuart dental offices can help.  These kinds of pains don’t go away easily and can lead to greater problems if left unchecked.  If you have a dental emergency, come see us right away.
